Mahalaxmi Medical College offers a comprehensive 2-year Diploma in Community Medical Services and Surgery, which includes a six-month internship in allopathic medicine. This program is part of the Prime Minister Unregistered Doctor Upgradation Scheme, approved by the Government of India and the University Grants Commission. The scheme allows graduates to establish and operate primary health care centers in both urban and rural areas across India, provided they have a no-objection certificate from the district’s Chief Medical and Health Officer.
After completing the two-year classroom training program, each student will undergo a six-month allopathic internship at a nearby government hospital. During this internship, students will perform minor surgeries, such as applying stitches and treating burns or cuts, and gain experience with other minor medical procedures.
